Rick and Dena were married on Saturday at Brayton church on the outskirts of Selby before celebrating at The Pavilion Hotel in York. Our day began with Dena’s bridal preparation at their home before we joined Rick and the grooms men at church for some photographs pre-wedding ceremony.  The vicar had a great and relaxed attitude to photography in Church and so we were able to maximise the photo opportunities with myself at the front and Sophie the second photographer shooting from the back. The weather forecast had predicted showers rolling in from lunchtime and so as Rick and Dena left church we were conscious of the need to maximise any dry spell and quickly complete any formal group requests at the church. Thankfully the weather held throughout the journey to The Pavilion Hotel in York and all the way through the drinks reception only actually raining after the guests had taken their seats for the wedding breakfast.

During the pre-wedding shoot and meeting with Rick and Dena we’d discussed the proximity of York Minster and the fact that it was here that Rick proposed made a visit a high priority. Late evening we quickly sneaked away for a trip into the city centre and made  a visit to York Minster not far from the actual spot of the proposal. We then headed into Shambles, one of the most historic streets in York and one high on any tourist list of sights and places to see in the city for the final end of night photographs. The final photograph (above) will make a stunning double page spread in an Italian Storybook.

Newton House Derbyshire Wedding Photography | Jenna and Roshan’s Newton House wedding photographs

Roshan and Jenna were married during the summer at Newton House in the village of Newton Solney in Derbyshire. Newton House is a relatively new wedding venue in Derbyshire and this was our first visit and wedding there. The day began with preparation photographs of Jenna and her bridesmaids as they were busy finishing off getting ready in the cottage. Normally when entering a room full of bridesmaids, a bride and an array of spectators, family and friends general chaos ensues, today was strangely different and very peaceful despite the number of people getting ready. This was great for us as it allowed plenty of opportunity for happy non stressed faces and time to shoot Jenna with her make up and prep as well as her red dress and shoes complete with matching red soles, yep those ones from Paris.

The red colour theme became even more apparent when we caught up with Rosh and his groomsmen. Their red scarves and gold outfits were a perfect match for the Sari’s of the bridesmaids and Jenna’s dress. Cameras and wedding albums love bright colours and under a blue sky they are even better, today was going to be a good day for photographs.The wedding ceremony was a fusion ceremony taking in both Jenna and Roshan’s religions and beliefs and performed on a small stage at the front of the large barn. Following the wedding ceremony guests were lead outside onto the large lawns of Newton House and during drinks reception we are able to complete the group photographs and also whisk Jenna and Roshan away for a photo session taking in the grounds and scenery of their wedding venue.

Back into the barn for the wedding breakfast and with food provided by one of our favourite outside catering companies and local restaurants (The Aagrah) we could hardly say no to an assortment of starters and mains whilst we backed up the photos and prepared for the evening slideshow. Following sunset and first dance we ended our day with a number of after dark photographs in the grounds before heading home.

The Ashes Staffordshire wedding photography – Richard and Stacey’s wedding photographs

Richard and Stacey had previously been guests at a former wedding that I had photographed at Waterton Park in Wakefield a couple of years ago and made their wedding booking with me via email and telephone. Their wedding venue, the Ashes in Staffordshire was a new venue to me that provided numerous exciting challenges and so following a morning exploring every aspect of the buildings and grounds I met up with Stacey for photographs of the bridal preparations taking place in the Old Dairy. Just after lunch time Richard and his groomsmen arrived ready for their groom preparation photographs before the wedding ceremony. With a strong cold wind to contend with we used the shelter afforded by the West and East barns that would later be used respectively for the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. The old stone making an ideal backdrop for some rugged textured photographs.

With the ceremony time looming, I rejoined the ladies as Stacey was finishing off dressing for some final photographs before we made the short walk from the dairy to the West Barn for the wedding ceremony. The high ceiling, big windows and bright walls made photography during the ceremony a lot easier. The Ashes is still a private residence and during the wedding day we were allowed access to the front lawn of the house and adjoining lake. The latter making a superb backdrop and location for a number of wedding photographs of Richard and Stacey before the wedding breakfast.

Eaves Hall wedding photographer Clitheroe Lancashire – Tim and Caroline’s wedding photography

 Tim and Caroline were married at Stoneyhurst College before celebrating at Eaves Hall near Clitheroe in Lancashire. As an old boy of Stoneyhurst, Tim was able to marry in the church within the school grounds. The imposing buildings, lakes and stunning church made it an obvious choice. The whole wedding day boasted itself to not only the stunning wedding venue and Stoneyhurst Church but to the close link between the two to the lovely bride and groom.

Following the wedding ceremony the celebrations continued at Eaves Hall on the outskirts of Clitheroe in Lancashire. Allowing me a chance to photograph my first wedding at the grand Eaves Hall. With the weather playing ball and the temperatures for early January on the very mild side we were able to complete the photographs outdoors before the bride, groom and guests enjoyed the drinks reception inside. Although there wasn’t really any sunset we made the most of the blue light of dusk for a couple of outdoor photographs before the evening reception and first dance.
